It's Derby time folks!!!
I have to say it's a pretty exciting
time to live in KY when it's that
time where the horses run for the roses.
I feel even more proud to be from
KY this time of year.
I feel like the world gets to see
that KY isn't all backwoods applachian
uneducated people.
When it's Derby time I can't tell you
how very emotional I get when they
play our state song
"My Old Kentucky Home".
Goosebumps. Tears well up in my eyes.
And they're off!!!!!!!!!!
No, I won't be sipping on mint juleps.
I have never been a fan.
I won't be sporting a big ole fancy
hat or sitting on millionaire's row.
But I probably will visiting Keeneland
and have been invited to a nice
Derby party--catered, open bar,
live music, under a tent.

I can feel the excitment brewing
in the warm May air.
I hope you can feel it.
I hope you pick a winner!
Just 5 days away.

I know you have heard this statement
"Rules are meant to be broken"
and even in one of my favorite quotes
"Life is short, Break the rules,
Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly,

What does that REALLY mean-this breaking of rules?

I feel a bit better today.
Don't feel so much
like doing this:

Feelin' a bit aggravated.
Feelin' a bit irritated.
I have been clenching my jaws.
I do that and don't realize I am.
I have a headache.
I am thinking too much.
I have paced.
I have smoked.
(Yes, I know bad girl!!
It really doesn't help!)
I've tried to watch TV.
Everything that I have
watched has made me think.



I don't want to think anymore.
I just want to tune some things out.
I can't sit still.
(Well, I am now since I'm typing
this!)
I have run my fingers thru my hair.
I have tried to be calm.
I tried to pray.
Tried to get centered.
I've just been thinking of some things.
And I don't want to think about them anymore.
The worst part? It's really not the big of a deal.
Ever felt like that?????

Okay, prepare yourself I am feeling a bit sappy.

We don't often tell our friends how special they are.
We often don't tell our family members and even close
acquaintance, or co-workers how special they are.
Even some wonderful fellow bloggers.
Whether or not you believe in angels is a very personal
choice that can be made by no one but you.
Although, I doubt anyone can say they have
never been touched by someone so special that it makes
them want to believe they exist...
Perhaps you are an angel to someone or they are yours.
The reason I mention this is because I do believe
there are angels around us and I believe that
there are also angels in disguise.
Some days it's as simple as that smile I received
from a stranger. Or the stranger that held the door
open for me, let me out in traffic. That stranger
that was nice to me in the check out at the grocery,
the stranger I checked out at my desk at work that
actually asked me how I was doing and meant it.
That stranger on the phone who was so kind.
It was that customer service rep who
genuinely helped me with some problem
I was having with my water bill or it could
be my credit card or at the bank.
It's these angels in disguise that made me smile,
made my day better by doing something so small.
So of course, this prompts me mention a favorite
quote:
"No act of kindness, no matter how small
is ever wasted...." Aesop

so nice, stopping by, leaving
comments, reaching across blogland
to say hello, to inspire me, make
me laugh, make me feel as if you care.

since I can't really see you but

we are getting Billy G.
The University of Kentucky called a news conference for Friday to name Billy Gillispie its new basketball coach.
Gillispie, who burst onto the college basketball scene by reviving programs at UTEP and Texas A&M, will be introduced as Kentucky’s coach at a 12:45 p.m. news conference in the Joe Craft Center.
A pep rally for fans will precede the news conference. The pep rally will begin at 12:15 in Memorial Coliseum.
Gillispie replaces Tubby Smith, who coached Kentucky’s team for 10 seasons before going to Minnesota.
My fingers are crossed that this man can handle the pressure of
being the next University Of Kentucky Wildcats Basketball Coach.

I turned the heat back on.
It was 30 degrees this morning.
Freeze warning in effect for tonight.
Ugh.
I was so loving the warmer weather
and Mother nature decided to
change her mind.
I know, I know, the good
weather will be back.
I was just loving wearing
shorts and being barefoot.
Out comes the sweatshirts
and jogging pants.
And guess what?
I'm sick again.
Sinusitis is back.
Thank goodness I have
some antibiotics already.
It's too busy of a week and
weekend to be sniffin' and a
snottin'.
Who wants to be sick on Easter?
Not me.
